Hello,

Please can you explain to me how this landing issue works? My question is , if one's destination is Quebec, can one land in Toronto with his family ? can one keep his family in toronto and enter Quebec without them ? or can the dependants enter quebec on a later date after the principal applicant had entered Quebec ?

When they talk or a mailing address to be given, must a mailing address be in the province where you intend to reside? i mean mailing address where they can send the PR card.

Thanks

This is one issue that confuses me still. My understanding is that if you are in FSW, you can land anywhere but Quebec and your address doesn't have to be in the province where you land but it cannot be Quebec. Once, you have landed, you can move anywhere.

If you are CSQ, you have to land in Quebec and your address has to be in Quebec. I think in the case of CSQ, you have to make an attempt to live in Quebec but of course, if you don't find a job, you can move.

I don't know what it means to make an attempt to live in Quebec. Remember, once you are a PR, you are a PR of the whole of Canada but since you signed the intention to live in Quebec (in the case of CSQ), you should show that.

I don't know the answers to the rest of your questions. Hopefully someone will answer soon because I am interested too.

Rupe,

Thanks for your explaination. Our destination is Quebec, we will reside there. My problem is, can we land in Toronto and give a mailing address in Toronto? Can the principal applicant after landing in toronto with his dependants live them in Toronto and go to Quebec to arrange a few things before he comes back to Toronto to bring along his family to Quebec ?

Thanks again

i dont think you can do that, but lets wait for someone else to answer.

My problem is the opposite of yours. If I get my PR, i'd land in the English part but my address (which would be friends of my Cameroonian friend) will be in Quebec. My understanding is that I have to land in the English part and give an address in English part. I don't know how dependents work. It could be that you could land in Quebec, and then leave your dependents in Toronto while you arrange a few things in Quebec. Actually, lets wait for someone else to answer. This part of the process is so far away for me, that I haven't thought much about it.

Ok Rupe, thanks alot . I appreciate ur endeavors to atleast explain what you think.

Lets wait for someone to throw more light

thanks

Please Guys, I am still waiting for someone to answer my questions.

Let me rephrase the Question again. Our destination is Quebec. Can we land in Toronto and then the Principal applicant gets into Quebec( for 3 days) to arrange for an apartment, then come back to Toronto to take along his family members ? Will that be any problem?

Also, during landing, must the mailing address be that of Quebec or it can be a mailing address anywhere in Canada ? ( I mean the address given to the authorities to mail the PR Card )

Thanks Alot.

NO, Quebec is a NATION within a United Canada,Canada does not control the Immigration of Quebec only they do,The question is as stupid as saying,If I Immigrated to Paris,France Can you send my PR card to London,England. The Canadian goverment DID NOT APPROVE YOUR IMMIGRATION,Quebec did.Land in Montreal and give a Quebec Adress

Senior members,

I do not know if this is the right thread for my question, nor do I intend to cut-off the initiator of this post from getting his answer. I am asking anyways as the subject looks general...

I sent my FSW Cat 1 application to Sydney last week. I talked to an employer in Canada this week and there is a possibility that he might offer me a job. If he does, do I need to take back my Cat 1 application and re-submit under Cat 2? Any suggestions as to what the best course of action would be?...

Thanks.

No, you do not need to take anything back. The applications should take the same time so you are not gaining anything by withdrawing and applying for Cat2 if you qualify for Cat1. If your employer can not wait for you to get PR, he can try to apply for an LMO for you and work permit so you can get there faster.

You are welcome,Most people do not realize that Quebec is not an ordinary province but a Nation that is part of Canada,For example all provinces have Provincial Parliaments and Provincial Parks,Quebec has a National Assembly and National Parks,Canadian Provinces dont have overseas offices,Quebec has Overseas Delegations which act as Semi Embassies,Be careful to note this when you move to Quebec,The Quebecois are proud of their NATION which in their eyes is an equal partner with the partnership between Quebec and Canada

Sounds very similar to Catalonia and Spain. It is quite interesting about Quebec.

BCGUY,

You are right. But i read somewhere that it is not an obligation for an Immigrant destined for Quebec to land in Quebec as there might be somany Airlines that may not have direct flights to Quebec.

For the landing issue, i have understood it well. But ,my concern is, we are trying to arrange for accomodation . So we were thinking we could land in Toronto, then the principal applicants gets into Quebec and aranges for accomodation before coming back to Toronto to take the rest of his family. This is just because we are trying to avoid staying in a hotel as it might be very expensive, moreso we have a kid and that might be alot inconvinient.

Thanks

OK,Its ok to transit in Toronto on the way to Quebec,I thought you were planning to stay around Toronto

If you are not sure, it might be a good idea to contact Quebec immigration and ask their advice on what to do.
