Hello all,
I am looking at my options for a PR and I am so confused about how the PNP works with Federal part of the process.
I came to Canada as an international student in Aug 2013 and studied electronics engineering at SFU Burnaby. I graduated in August 2017 and now have a full time job as an engineer(I have my 3 year PGWP). During my studies, I have had both off campus work permit and co-op work permit. I have worked part time in many jobs in last 4 years. I have also worked in engineering jobs as a co-op. I have worked for SFU Research for 8 months as a co-op student and then I worked for another engineering company as an engineering co-op student for 8 months and then I had a 3 month part time contract with the same company. In total I have worked 19 months in a technical job but this is all on my co-op work permit.
Now that I have permanent full time job, I would like to apply for my PR. I would want to apply for BC provincial nomination as my job is in a technical field and also that I studied here. But I am not sure if I qualify for any federal class. The CEC requires me to have 1 year Canadian experience and I have heard that it needs to be one year on a PGWP. The FSWP requires 1 year experience but I am not sure if I can count my co-op experience in it.
Do I have to wait for one complete year or am I eligible to apply for FSWP express entry supported by provincial nomination?
Also a side question is that do I need to take an English test considering that I have a Bachelor's degree in engineering from a Canadian university?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
