Hi Friends,
I am new to this forum, and also to Canada Immigration process.
Can any one explain what is AOR? I have seen this word in almost all the threads, but could not understand what exactly is that.

As per my understanding we will receive the first AOR from CIC, Nova Scotia, Canada.

What about the second AOR? I think one receives the second AOR from the local CHC (Canada High Commission). What is the significance of this second AOR? What exactly they request in this second AOR?

After receiving the second AOR, how many days it will take to get the Visa stamped?

Thanks in advance!!

Regards,
Msekhar12

AOR is acknowlegement of Reciept

You get it from CIC which is also document request

After you submit docs to CHC you get Second AOR. IT has a new file number

The Visa depends on case to case basis. It also depends on Visa office. If all docs are in order it may take between 4 months to 10 months from date of doc submission

you might heard some new terms in the future which are as follows with their meanings

AOR - Acknowledgment of Receipt
AEO - Arranged Employment Opinion
IA - Initial Assessment
PPR - Passport Request
CEC - Canadian Experience Class
ARC - Authorization To Return To Canada
VO - Visa Office
POE - Port Of Entry
POF - Proof of Funds
RPRF - Right of Permanent Residence Fee

You are correct - you get the first AOR from the CIO indicating they have reviewed the documents and, if you are approved to continue, they will instruct you to send a copy of your application (with original signatures) and the supporting documents to the local visa office. They will also instruct you to advise them of any changes to your application at that time in a cover letter.

The significance of the second AOR is that it serves as confirmation from the visa office that they have received your documents and have done a check that the application is complete. They don't request anything in the second AOR, but usually give you a date by when you should hear back from them.
