Bank Statements - Ok to redact information?

Hi there!

I was wondering if anyone knew if it was alright to redact certain information on bank statements as proof of means of support? I don't want them to think I'm being shady, but I'd like to be cautious with my personal information.

The fact that you want to "protect" your information doesn't add up. You are giving the VO all your information anyways, photo, passport number, contact info, employment, etc.

Assuming that your intention is genuine , would you risk being banned because of misrepresentation? VO's know what they are doing, personally I'd recommend not to.

Do not redact, it will raise questions. Visa officers have to abide by privacy and confidentiality laws, so your personal information is used to assess your application and not divulged.

Lol... in that case, I'd say better to be seen by the visa officer than your parents and next time use cash only. Come to think of it, those officers probably have a field day reading the spousal sponsorship applications.

Don't redact anything....if you do it will raise a red flag and introduce a concern about fraud...visa office may ask you to clarify e.g. via interview but its just easier for them to refuse the application on the grounds of you not submitting proof as required...they haven't got time to figure out your issues!

I censored my bank account number, but i did attach an empolyment letter taht confirms my monthly wage and my approved vacation time.
