Hello Everyone,

We are in the process of applying for a TRV for my husband to join me in Canada for the birth of our first child. Our honest intent is for him to stay about 6 months before he goes back to Venezuela. Baby and I will also be joining him on that return trip. We decided that it was best for me to return to Canada as a Canadian born citizen to have the baby. However, the RCIC representative I hired said that regardless of my high income and proof of employment stability I need to provide a bank statement showing at least $12,000.00 as I will be covering all his expenses while he is here with me. That's just not possible. Has anyone ever found a way around this?

It is not up to you to show money, it is up to him to show he can afford the trip. Your statement is secondary and not very important the savings in your account as you have an steady income.

He has to show strong ties to Venezuela, that is a steady job where he has been at least one year and that will grant him a leave of 6 months for that specific purpose. You have to convince CIC that he is going back with evidence, good intentions are not good enough.

Jalex what if it was a joint bank account? Would that suffice as proof of funds for his trip? Why does he need to show funds when she declared that she is supporting him.
Thanks

Yes.

Because they are not dependants.

People have to give evidence that they are able to support themselves while on a trip, at least to the extent where it is reasonable to assume in case of an emergency they can take care of themselves. Other people's money is not theirs (good intentions are not accountable).

Perfect ty. I understand the good intention issue. If they broke up while here then he has no money to support himself.
Understood.
