Hi wxyz,

Bank statement is considered. But you can also attach bank verification letter for your account. This is the letter given by Branch Manager of the Bank on Branch letter head with BM's sign and bank's seal-stamp.

as per the cic website, following is the required funds to be carried:

Although the amount may change yearly, at time of publication the required funds are equal to or
greater than the amount listed below for each family size:
Number of family members Funds required
1 $11,086
2 $13,801
3 $16,967
4 $20,599
5 $ 23,364
6 $ 26,350
7 or more $ 29,337

thx buddy. do you know we need to show that these funds have been maintained for some time like 3 or 6 months and do they ask where these funds came from.

hi wxyz.
At the time of sending the application to CIO, you must have this much fund in your account.
Now once your applicatoin is accepted at CIO for further processing, it will be sent to your specific Visa Office. Here they will not ask for proof of funds, they will entirely rely on the documents sent by you.
Earlier, this process of transferring file to VO was taking almost 6 months. But now with this new process, it is estimated at 3-4 months, yet no-one has reach to this stage for any applications received by CIS after 26th June 2010.

At VO stage, they may want to check the proof of funds and for these they may ask for bank statements for 3-6 months. Here, they will ask about the source of funds if there is bulk deposit of money in your account within 3-6 months period. So, it is advisable to maintain the funds in your account once you send your application till the final processing, getting visa stamped.

I hope this helps to clear your confusion.
