How did you managed to open a bank account at the time of your landing? Before starting a job!
Is it easy and accepted to pay in cash (e.g. Rent) till you get the bank account?

It is fairly easy to open a bank account so you can manage to do it within a single business day. One of the cheapest ways to transfer your money is to buy travel cheques in USD, you can bring'em to a Canadian bank and put there at no charge.
