Hello All,

Im in a bit of a dilemma. Im flying on Air France from Bombay-Paris-Toronto.
The problem is the airline website says just 23 kgs of baggange and 7kgs hand luggage is allowed per passenger.
I would like to know if, when flyig on a immigrant status, are we allowed more baggage allowance?

Please reply. Appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Nick

No - you are not allowed a higher baggage allowance. You have the same baggage allowance as all other travellers.

With an economy ticket the maximum free baggage allowance for any airlines from India to Canada/USA is 23 kg x 2 pc = 46 kg.
Up to 32 kg per bag x 2 is allowed for FIRSTCLASS passengers.

Excess baggage charge for exceeding 23 up to 32 kg is $ 50-00, which may not be worthy.

Not correct. On Air France Economy between Canada and Asia the baggage allowance is as follows:
If you purchased your ticket before October 20, 2011, you can transport 2 baggage items weighing 23 kg maximum at no extra charge.
If you purchased your ticket after October 20, 2011, you can transport 1 baggage item weighing 23 kg maximum each at no extra charge.
Are you a Flying Blue Silver, Gold, Platinum, or SkyTeam Elite / Elite Plus member? You can transport one additional baggage item weighing up to 23 kg.

Thank you guys. Ive confirmed that the airline only allows 23kg baggage - 1 nos. Additional hand luggage is allowed upto 12kgs inclusive of a laptop.

Most airlines are now following the same regulations.

Thanks for the help guys.

Kind Regards,
Nick

Wilson,

Where would i be able to confirm the baggage allowance? Having spoken to the airline office, they mentioned 23kg of 1 baggage only.

Kind Regards,
Nick

Check the airline's web site. All airline web sites list the official baggage allowance.

I don't know about Air France, but Cathay Pacific certainly give me more latitude in terms of baggage weight than Air Canada. The baggage allowance for Cathay Pacific is 23kg x 2 pc, but sometimes my baggage weight was 24kg x 2, yet Cathay Pacific didn't make me pay the excess baggage. I probably would be charged if I take Air Canada flight instead.

Is Air France cheaper than Cathay Pacific on the BOM-Hong Kong-Toronto route?

Yes Air France is cheaper than Cathay Pacific.
