I'm xxx and I reside in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. I completed my 10th grade (2015-16) and 12th grade (2017-18) from yyyy is a CBSE based school. I secured a score of 8.8/10 during my 10th grade and a score of 83.4 percent in my 12th grade. I have a total score of 91 in my TOEFL and wish to pursue my higher studies in Canada.
Ever since I was a child, technology has fascinated my little world. But it was not until my 11th grade, when the concept of programming was introduced, that Computer Science truly peaked my interest. Slowly and gradually, my hobby had evolved into a passion. Since then, I have been trying to work in as many Computer Science related projects as possible. I had participated in a competitive programming event called CODEWARS, where I have been the team leader and led my team in securing the ‘Third place’ amongst 124 teams that participated across the country. Apart from my academic projects, I have also made simple games and few mobile apps, with the purpose of applying my knowledge. It was then that I was determined “Computer Science” is the field I wish to pursue my studies to reveal what secrets it has yet to show.
In addition to my school courses, I have also been active outside my classroom. One of the activities is Speedcubing. I’m an ardent speed-cuber and spend most of my free time solving the Rubik’s cube and other similar puzzles as fast as I can. I also actively participate in Speedcubing Competitions. Currently, the average time I take to solve a 3x3 Rubik’s cube is around 13-14 seconds. Apart from speedcubing, I also spend a good portion of my free time dedicated to Competitive Programming. During the past year, I got familiar with Python, C, C++, and Java. I have used C and C++ for Competitive programming, Python for small games, and Java for Android mobile app development.
The reason I chose Dalhousie University is that its Computer Science program is intensive and well regarded throughout Canada. Dalhousie University aims to promote social interactions and relationships amongst the students and faculty which will contribute to my growth and ease my transition to a new country. Dalhousie University also has a big impact on the research field. Canada is culturally diverse and provides an enriched atmosphere making it ideal for a student to focus on studies. In the past decade, India has shown tremendous growth in the Information Technology industry and it continues to expand exponentially. Due to its rapid expansion, there will be a huge demand for skilled IT professionals and Computer Scientists in India for the foreseeable future. With the experience and the industry-wide exposure I gain from studying in Canada, my degree and skill set will be quite lucrative for me and the employer. After the completion of my studies, I intend to serve my country by returning as a highly skilled Computer Scientist and get employed in a reputable organization. After being employed for a few years, I intend to work for my father and help him scale his company which I will be inheriting in the future.
I have paid the first-semester fee, which is xx CAD and have enclosed the receipt as supporting documents. Also, I have the GIC for 10xxx CAD which covers my living expense for the first year.
