Background Checks

My girlfriend is applying for PR card. She has been working in Canada for last 4yrs. I know she needs to get the background check from back home, should we also cover all basis and pay the $40 and get one here as well?

If by "background check" you mean "police clearance certificates", she needs to get one for each country she has lived in for 6 or more consecutive months. She does not need one for Canada, CIC does this themselves and will request fingerprints if needed.
