Background Check

Hi,

I was wondering if i need to do a background check at all. i left my country when i was 16 and moved to Canada. I currently stay in Canada. Since IRCC specified that you do not have to do a background check for people living in Canada and countries you stayed before turning 18, does that mean that i do not need a background check.

Anyone in a similar situation or knows?

I also had a similar situation and I know a couple of people in the same case. We didn't include a criminal report from our country. To be on the safe side, however I did include a letter of explanation to CIC to explain why I didn't include it.
