Dear All,

I have a little confusion between background Checks and Security check.
Whether they are same or different, if different than whats the difference between them.

regards

i think background check would include things like checking your proof of funds available, educational documents, employment record.
security check would include checking PCC, medicals

background is your every pesonal detail which is not harmful or dangerous to canadian society.
for example if someone dosent really have those many funds available in the bank account or had forged the educational documents the canadian society is not affected by it. but if someone has a criminal record or any serious disease, it would affect the canadian society, hence it comes under security.

this is my understanding.

1. B/ground checks:
-1(a) It commences the moment your file reaches the CHC.
-1(b) It consists of Assessment of your file, vis-a-vis Quals, Exp, Qualitative/Quantitative Suitability, Sustainability in Canada etc. BTW, r u Fit for the CIC process... worth their consideration.
-1(c) The e-cas 'in process' means it's ON.

2. Security checks:
-2(a) It commences after your med results r recd at the CHC.
-2(b) It consists of Database check -CSIS, NASC, Interpol & local Police scrutiny. And many more if one is having any 'red flags'. BTW, r u a non-risk person to Canada... will u create communal, social, socio-economic, political etc. hazards to the country.
-2(c) The e-cas updates r not a genuine way of knowing your case progress.

Hope that helps.
Qorax.

then how can we check our case uodates if e-cas is not the best way please advice

rgds

Thanks. Response was straight to the point.

But would SC be a function of the number of countries one has lived in before?

Cheers

You can say E-cas status is 95% times correct (excluding the update of ecas which usually may not reflect the actually processing).

If any doubts and you are 100% sure ecas is not giving you the true picture then an email or Online inquiry to CHC can be sent which is usually is reply is sent to the point, then correct.

The more countries u visited, plus the frequency of those, plus the visits to 'red flag' countries r all 'more in-depth' scrutiny situations. Call it 'more timeframe' to process.

1. Check your case updates by emailing the VO at your CHC.
2. Get CAIPS / FOSS Notes [as applicable]. U can obtain as many as u desire.
3. e-cas is just an MIS function, which is not regularly / timely updated. Plus, not done by your VO.

@ Qorax

I'm in "In Process" stage, does it mean that Background check (including calculation of 67 point s& MI) has be completed?! & waiting other checks?

Regards
Amr

No, not completed I'm afraid... it means it is 'on'. Probably, the 67 u must have already made, if they haven't notified u yet.

Hello Qorax,

Since I've been an avid fan yours, I would like to ask if you are still providing ideas for nowadays processing of PR.
I've been waiting for my PR since April 21, 2017 - that's the day my medical was tagged as "passed" in GCKEY account. As of the moment, my status in ECAS is in Process as well as in my GCKey Account - it is in process.

Can you help me understand why does it take almost 2 mos now, when I asked the life of Peg page in FB, they advised me that I will get it 1 month maximum.

And is it okay to transfer from MB to BC as immigrant, if yes how long should I stay at my sponsored province before I can transfer?

Thank you in advance!
