Hello all,

To those who have gone through the process, does CIC conduct background check (employers, etc.) just on principal applicant or on both yourself as principal and also your spouse/common law partner?

Thank you.

i was told by a lawyer that only 5% cases go under scruitiny. But, those which do, they do a thorough check on each and every detail.

am not sure about this, though.. it was a lawyer :)

Thank you SK and Aanbaan for your replies. Just that my spouse has past employers who do not exist anymore and what we did was just submit an affidavit listing those companies and indicated that they have closed. We just attached older employer-issued documents (hiring letters, congratulatory letters, bonus letters) which we were able to find from our old files.

Now, we only realized after we submitted full application to the visa office that there is one employer, among the list of those we claimed have closed shop, which is still operating and so we wonder how CIC would think if it found out that we had made a wrong declaration in the application.

Any advice? Thank you.
