Hi everyone!

I will recap our situation, since I have been away for a couple of months!

Last March my then boyfriend and I started our application for Common Law Sponsorship. Our application was almost complete until we decided to get married! Yay! We were married in Canada in May. My now husband is from Guatemala and holding a multiple entry visitor visa valid until 2018. We are back on the horse, working on our immigration application.

I need help refocusing our application with us being married now. Before, the main idea was to prove that our relationship was legit and that the common law status was legit. So I had tons of travel documents, pictures, chat logs, witness accounts... etc! Where should my focus be now? Does the fact that we are married mean I need less supporting documents?

Thank in advance!! :)

P.S The wedding was wonderful of course!! haha

Congratulations for your wedding!!!
I think your case will be straightforward ;D believe me!...
getting married does not mean less supporting documents, it is sometimes hard to prove that your relationship is genuine while common law sponsorship applications seems easier to prove it as you know exactly what documents they want, marriage certificate is way not enough to convince the agent. For your new application you can keep everything you had for common law sponsorship supporting documents only change the forms( remove unnecessary forms) and add wedding certificate and more pictures of your wedding...do you live together? if not you need to prove how you communicate.........Inland or Outland?

Thank you for your answer Gabba!

We will be doing Outland as it is so much faster. I have been living in Guatemala with him for the most part of the last 2 years and when I visit Canada, he comes with me. So yes we have been living together, somewhat nomadically I suppose.

The difference between your common law app and your app now as being married is you do not have to prove you lived together for 1 complete year. You still have to prove your relationship is genuine, so including something that shows you've lived together for x amount of time isn't a bad idea still.

Thank you! I think I will keep basically the same things and evidence I had before, just add some wedding stuff to it and tweak certain things to accommodate the change!

I think I know the answer to this question but just in case I am wrong...

Since we just got married last month, we do not have the official marriage certificate yet. In Ontario you must wait 3 months after the wedding to order one online. In the meantime we have a paper called "Solemnization of Marriage" to prove our wedding took place. Can we submit that evidence as us being married (along with wedding pics etc..) or should I wait until we get the real marriage certificate?
