Baby's citizenship

I was recently told by my lawyer that my baby's citizenship will be a 16 month wait.(?) I assumed that was the deal but got to thinking that is an awful long time. Does that seem right?

I am appealing my wife's refusal (she's in Cambodia) and we had a baby 3 months ago. We have applied for our baby's citizenship, but I just got the original birth certificate to my lawyer yesterday.

We appealed for my wife a year ago and no word or court date yet.

You have a baby and your wife had a interview and got refusal?! What is the explanation for the refusal.

Your child can be Canadian, only if you are first generation Canadian.
My child got a citizenship about for 8 months. Actually this is a Proof of citizenship. They are different procedures.

Your child got citizenship after 8 months? Did you go through Nova Scotia?

My wife got pregnant after the refusal.

Yes.Nova Scotia, but was 3 yeas ago. I just checked now processing time is 12-18 months if the baby is outside Canada.
You don`t need a lawyer for that.
