Hi,

I am married to a Canadian wife. She is pregnant and plans to have her delivery in USA. Would the baby have canadian citizenship if she does that? Is it advisable that she delivers in Canada instead of USA if we plan to settle in Canada in the future?

Thanks.

If future plan is to settle in Canada than its better to have the Baby in Canada, to avoid extra paper works it will be easier if spouse visit wife at the time of delivery.

If the mom is a Canadian citizen, then the baby will have Canadian citizenship even if it's born in the US.

Kindly check this New Citizenship Law that came to effect on 17th Apr 2009 : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/faq/citizenship/index.asp#rules

Hope it clears your doubt !
