I have BA in English Language & Literature, and I would like to apply for a study permit for an IT field, what do you guys think my best chances are for which type of degree/certificate should I apply? I'm not quite familiar with the type of studies in Canada but I was thinking to apply for Business Information Technology in the Canford Institute of Technology in Edmonton. But it is two years, are there any courses/certificates with same field with 8 months of study. Anyone have suggestions?

- If you have a BA, then you need to be applying for a post graduate diploma at a minimum if not a Master's.
- Canford is an absolutely terrible choice. It's a private college which means you won't qualify for a PGWP once you finish your studies and which also means the school offers a poor level of education and has a bad reputation with employers.
- If your aim is to get PR, you want to take a 2 year program so that you qualify for a PGWP. An 8 month program is not a good plan.
- Do you have any work experience in the IT field? You will need to explain to IRCC why you are switching the field of your study. This can be a reason for refusal.

so which institute you think is the best or better than Cnaford? yes I have more than 2 years of experience in IT, but in order to get a better IT job/upgrade my position I need a certificate or Diploma in an IT filed.

Any public college. Stay away from all private colleges.

Is it only because of the PGWP or there are some other reason?

- no PGWP
- harder to find a job afterwards / bad reputation with employers
- harder to get a study permit approved since it doesn't make sense to come to Canada to study at a bad school / can cause IRCC to believe you aren't a genuine student and are just trying to find any way of getting to Canada
- if you have a spouse, SOWP has a lower chance of being approved
