Finally my PR application got approved. We have some months to get prepared for our landing. I am trying to figure out how to fill out the B4 form. Appreciate anyone who has been through that process to share any tips, my husband (my sponsor) and I will land through Vancouver YVR airport immigration and custom.
Also some initial questions, appreciate any advice.
1. there is a section under B4 form called 'Classification Type'
- do I and my husband EACH need to fill in one B4 form?
- for me, should I choose the 'Settler' option? My husband and I may land and stay for one month in Canada and then need to return to HK for a couple of months wrapping up our work and property sale before we move permanently.
- for my husband, should he choose 'Former Resident'?

2. is there anything that my husband should do at my landing - he is Canadian citizen and has declared as non-resident since 1997 and moved back to live and work in HK, now he will move permanent to Canada together with me with my PR application approved.

3.we learnt from separate discussions in this forum that at landing you can provide address of a friend living in Canada for CIC to mail the PR card because we have not had a permanent place to live yet in Canada; my question then: as mentioned above I may land and stay for one month and then need to return to HK for a couple of months to wrap up my work. Do I need to show my PR card when I enter Canada again after my landing? I am using HKSAR passport. Do I need the PR card every time I enter Canada once I have landed?

Thanks for your advice and help :)

1) You will need to decide whether to complete one B4 form with husband or two separate forms. "Settler" for you and "Former resident for your husband";
2) If he is bringing cash over $10,000, then he will need to declare it on the customs declaration card;
3) Probably yes you would need a PR card for entering Canada especially when the ETA will take into effect this September and you have a direct flight between HKG and YVR. But you can always get a PRTD from the Canadian consulate in HK. The PRTD can be a multiple-entry document for entering Canada as long as it is valid.

here's a toping on this matter, but it's a bit outdated: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/form-b4-goods-to-followaccompanying-list-how-to-t44793.0.html

We were told on 29th April when we landed, that if you leave Canada without the physical PR card in your hand, and you come back in to Canada any way but driving it will be likely not allowed to enter Canada without the card..we have read this as well on the CIC site...As well we put all of our material goods as my husbands as he is the settler after a discussion with the border agents...I also understand that they will send the PR card to the address you give them when you land..
