Hello all,

If I hold the Canadian PR card and want to put the PR file for my parents. Is there any rule stating I must have $60k+ salary/income for consecutive three years to show I have enough funds to support them? I don't exactly know, if there is! I have, however, referred to the data table given on CIC website, but I guess it doesn't state such a rule.

Please anyone kindly help.

Yes you must show 3 years of income and you must meet the LICO + 30% in order to sponsor your parents. Your income is determined based on the number of family members. Eg if you're married and have a wife and child, then you must have enough income for 3 people + 2 parents which is 5 people so the income you must show for 3 years is around $60000 above.

Yes for all provinces outside Quebec, you must show income for 3 years then wait 1 year for final tax return, so need to wait at least 4 years after becoming PR before you can sponsor your parents. Unless you are married to a Canadian citizen/PR who already satisfies the 3-year income requirements.

Also even if you meet income requirement for 3 years you can't just apply, you need to enter PGP Lottery in January (it's already closed for 2017), and only if you win one of the 10K lottery spots will you then be invited to submit a parents application. So there is no guarantee you will ever be able to sponsor your parents.
