My passport expired recently I had to renew my passport. My stamped but expired H1-B visa is in old passport. Can I carry both old and new passport and be eligible for automatic revalidation ?

Yes ! You might be sent to secondary inspection and will be given a new i94 for travelling purpose.

Yes, I carry my old passport with the expired visa. When I renewed my H1B I took the I-94 and they stamped the new passport with the valid date for the I-94. I usually just present my nexus card, but if they ask for passport, I present both old and new.
This new i94 is just a stamp on the passport right? I used AVR recently, and all I got was a stamp with expiry date of I-797
Nope, its a paper slip that will be stapled to your passport. May be 2nd or 3rd time when you travel they give it to you(like if you are travelling frequently). If you are travelling very random may be they wouldnt.
