Autism

My application is in the process for only a few weeks now and I have just had one of my children diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Can anybody please help me in trying to determine if this an automatic failure for the medical and whether I should continue with the application. Any help would be greatly welcomed.

My understanding is that it shouldn't be a problem. Since the child is your dependant, he/she would be exempt from the "excessive demand" criteria. Beyond that, autism isn't infectious and shouldn't cause your child to be a danger to others. So I think you'll be fine.
