Hello everyone, I arrived in Canada on July 4, 2023, and secured a decent IT job with one of the top 5 banks in the country. Unfortunately, on September 4, my wife filed a false assault case against me. The pre-trial is scheduled for March 8, and we are currently going through a divorce, having ended our relationship. My visa is set to expire on September 25, 2025. I'm seeking guidance on potential options for permanent residency after the legal proceedings. Additionally, there's a possibility that my wife may leave the country and relocate to India permanently. How would this impact my current status, given that I am the dependent?

You should speak with an immigration lawyer regarding potential impacts on PR.

Your future in Canada depends on how the charges are decided. Make sure you are working with an excellent criminal lawyer.
