My friend is in a common law relationship and she just had a baby. The father is resident and she is legal. The father wants to file for child benefit but she is afraid that immigration would find her. Is it possible?

Does she have health care? Because if she have birth in a hospital, that bill will also find her.

The father can apply. It has nothing to do with immigration.

As long as the father is living with the child he can apply for child benefit. Just checking that they have been living together for one continuous year at least. Have they not filed for sponsorship?

They have been living together for 2yrs and no they haven't file for sponsorship

What are they waiting for? She
Ikely didn’t have medical coverage during her pregnancy. You think that would be incentive enough. She could be deported until she gets status. Encourage they start sponsorship ASAP.
