Asking about how long it will take for my immigration process?

Hi,

I submitted my papers in Canadian Embassy at UK and almost there are 4 and a half months have gone and there is no response. What do you suggest can i go to check my application status now. Please reply soon. I will be very grateful to you. Secondly my younger sister also submitted her papers at UK and now she has a baby girl during this process. Can she also send her baby girl documents to Canadian embassy at UK? If yes what documents she needs to send. Thank you
