I think someone mentioned in one of the posts about how recent a police certificate is valid for EE application purposes.. Was it 6 month? Can someone please clarify and provide CIC source?

I have one from China dated April 2015 so it was quite outdated but i have never left Canada since then and I have Canadian police certificate which is very recent. Would that be sufficient?

PCC should not be older than 6 months. you should try getting new one from China.

If you've never been to China since getting that PCC, it will work.

This is applicable only for the current country of residence and not for countries where an applicant has stayed in the past and not returned to that particular country/countries and resided.

Okay thanks for correcting me..

I had applied for South African police clearance last year as I had resided in that country for 2 yrs. However, I visited South Africa again for holidays only. Do I need to get a new police clearance again since my visit???

Thank you!

There are 2 schools of thought on this. Some of us think that you need another PCC only if you go an live in that country for 6 months or more in a row while others debate that you need another PCC even if you return for a day. CIC's instructions aren't clear nor has there been any conclusive evidence one way or the other.

If you were holidaying for 3-4 weeks or longer, you should probably get another PCC if it isn't too much of a hassle in terms of money/time. Your call.
