Please advise.

1. Present CRS 412

NOC 2173 Software Engineer, Masters, Over 5 years experience, IELTS L 8.5 S 7.5 R 8 W 6.5
Spouse:
IELTS 14 points
Education 10 points for Masters

2. Today I got my fourth IELTS results

I have been repeating IELTS for four times to overcome 6.5 in writing, and improve my CRS.

If I am not good at writing, I will accept it with humility

BUT

The unethical practices of IELTS to generate revenue by assigning .5 less in writing is apparent.

I am confident of my writing abilities and can't imagine failing four times to get 7 in writing and getting 6.5.

Well, we cant go for remarking as IELTS will never accept their mistake. It's a prestige for them; Nobody can challenge their marking.

Don' t have the patience and trust in IELTS to appear for 5th time.

3. Got OPNP/PT

Preparing to send my application. Was holding on to get CLB 9 as my score would have jumped to 469 resulting in ITA.

Please advise:

1. Will it be a good decision to apply for OPNP and try IELTS once more
2. What are the rejection percent of OPNP. My application is pretty straight forward and documents are perfect according to the requirements.
3. Average time for OPNP from application receipt, AOR, Nomination, ITA ...Is it more than a year.

Reason for asking time frame: I have to plan certain events for the next couple of years.

Always appreciate your quick advise.

1. Will it be a good decision to apply for OPNP and try IELTS once more
Yes Apply for OINP
2. What are the rejection percent of OPNP. My application is pretty straight forward and documents are perfect according to the requirements.
If your documents are perfectly fine, then take it as 0% chances of rejection.
3. Average time for OPNP from application receipt, AOR, Nomination, ITA ...Is it more than a year.
OINP processing time to nomination is between 3-4 months. nomination to PPR can be anywhere between 3-6 months.

Plus try 1-2 tests if you have no problem spending on IELTS.

Thanks CJS

It's so frustrating to get 6.5 in writing four times. As I shared I am very confident of my writing abilities.

May be I will over come the trauma and try one more time; to appear for IELTS.

Sincerely I want to express that the evaluation, marking system of IELTS is grossly flawed.

Many candidates have the same observation.

Yes i can understand that, did you try re-evaluation. Sometimes people get lucky there.

Since you have already appeared for IELTS 4 times, I would suggest you to apply for OINP since your CRS points are more than 400 and you would be applying to receive additional 600 key points through PNP.
If you had less than 400 points, then it would have made sense in reappearing even for the 5th time.

Anyway, take a look at the below video which might help you incase you want to reappear again:

The use of these words can help you achieve atleast a band 7 in Writing and Speaking modules.

Thanks to all

Appreciate you all in sharing my agony.

Writting is always problematic at least for most people.
I took the IELTS twice and only improved my score with 0.5 from 6.5 to 7.

The people that I know and also took IELTS got lower score on writing as well.

According to my observations the reason for lower score is that they actually have certain expectations on the text you write and you follow the rules you will score higher. Well, I messed up a little the second time as I did make 3 serious typing mistakes due to the pressure which I only realized later and mistakes of this extend are punished badly .. Otherwise I believe my score would have been 7.5.

So after re taking and the classes I went to (also based on the scores of my friends and their second ielts results as well) those are the main points that I figured cause the lower score on writing:
1. they don;t want you to write just a decent text with nice language. Use elaborate words. Gives you more points especially on the second task.
2. Use set phrases (here's the point to head up to your old textbooks and make a list of those like not only .. but, imagine that and so on).
3. Make clear 4 section text on the second task - introduction, 1st point of view, 2nd point of view, conclusion which includes your view - which point of view you agree with. Second task is the one that always has a topic that suggests you give your thoughts on the both points of view in the tast itself. Do not underestimate that. They want you to say what you think on both views so you do so.
4. Do not mix languages - formal and informal. Unless the first topic is a letter to a friend, use formal language there as well as the second one. No slang words, no informal language at all.
5. Do not use words which meaning or spelling you are no completely sure of. I can guarantee for sure that the second one is indeed punished especially if the correct word is written on the board like in my case .. ???

If there is a way to higher writting score this is it .. This worked for me as well two of my friends who had to re take this stupid test...
