Hello,
i am an art Teacher in India. I have done Ph. D. so far & have over 7 years experience in fine arts/ applied arts like painting, world's art history, sketching etc.currently teaching high school classes like 11 & 12th. I am eligible to work in Colleges also.

According to point based calculator I am eligible, spoke to some agents also, all of they are saying that you should go to Canada coz there is some quota for teachers which is open now, and you will get job there easily.

Will somebody will help me to decide that shall i leave my job from India and go to Canada and and find jobs? I am worried if this step will jeopardise me.

Please help me with your honest comments considering that i am a single woman and never been outside India.

You won't be able to teach in any public schools because you have not graduated from a Canadian teacher's college. Private schools can hire teachers without teacher's college although many don't because there is a surplus of teachers in many areas. Teaching at colleges and universities is still an option but I would imagine it might be quite challenging to find a position because many artists are looking for more stable employment. I would look to see if there are any jobs currently available before making a move especially if you have a good job already.

Thanks for such fast response. Is it really that hard to get a job in Canada even if someone has Ph.d Degree? to be honest with you, here in India, agents say that it's very simple to go to Canada and getting jobs there. That's why i thought that i should ask here about it. much appreciated.

Don't trust anything an agent says they just want your money. If you had a PhD in Science I would say there wouldn't be any problems. A PhD in Fine Arts or Art history is tough. There are a lot of graduates but not a ton of related jobs. You won't have access to most elementary and secondary school jobs in Canada as well.

Would also be hard to get hired at the college/university level given your experience has been at the secondary school level and you don't have any Canadian or international experience.

It's super depressing to hear this, but the best part is it's the truth. so does it mean that only jobs are available in canada are filler as gas station, waiter at Mc. Donald etc..

No definitely not but getting a job related to Fine arts skills and knowledge may be difficult.

What do you think that if I come to canada, will I get any job ( no related to my skills but a job which help me to get my daily bread and butter.

I can't really say but your experience is in teaching which will be hard to use to get a job in an office without previous Canadian experience. I would say that it may be quite a struggle especially without a partner to share costs. If you had a nice life in India I would be reluctant to take the risk and move but that is me. Is there a reason you want to move?
