Hi

I just got married and it is an arranged marriage. I want to provide an affidavit from my mother and my mother-in-law proving the merits of our relationship. Can anybody suggest what I can talk about in those affidavits?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks'

hey
As far as i know, your family members can't give a "affidavit",
it has to a lawyer doctor etc...

my wife got her documents affidavit by a lawyer.

we had a arrange marriage

Anyone relevant person can make an affidavit. Notarize it

Having an arranged marriage does not necessarily put you at a disadvantage. In some cultures (South Asian especially) it is very normal and CIC knows this. Just attach as much evidence as you can like photos of ceremonies, invitation cards, Marriage certificate, write a letter about how this marriage was arranged, did the two families get introduced thorugh some one, is that someone related to both you guys, how much time was there between engagement and the actual wedding, do you have any communication proofs for this time... write as much relevant info as you can.

About your notarized letter question, get your and your sponsor's family members (Parents, elders, friends) to write out their versions of affidavits. Ask them to get them notarized and send them to you.

one last question, if my wife successfully gets her permanent resident visa through sponsorship, how long the visa is valid for? is it 6 months?

It depends on when she has her medical. The last date to enter mentioned in the COPR (confirmation of permanent Residence) is usually the Medical expiry date. i.e. 1 year from the date she has her medical.

Visa (PR) is valid for 5 years and u have to stay minimum 2 years out of 5.
Medical has 1 year expire so u should land before your medical expired.
