Hi,
My girlfriend and I have been together since March 2014. We met in New Zealand, she is from Argentina and me from Canada.
I came back to Canada between October 2014 and March 2015 for seasonal work (I work in ski resorts). During this time we tried to get her a visitor visa here for 1 month (you get one month of paid holidays in NZ) and they were both denied for multiple reasons.
Since then, I came back to New Zealand and got a work visa (based on partnership with her since she is sponsored by her employer) twice and we are waiting for our New Zealand residency. We also bought a car that I put on her name (worth around $3000).
I am now back to Canada and we would like to do the same. I will get myself a ticket to show that I intend to go back to NZ after the winter and she earns +/- $45 000 a year working in HR and as a personal assistant and has around $4 000 of savings.
My question is do we have the chance of getting her a visa? How much money does she need? I have more and am not sure if I should just show that to immigration or actually transfer it to her. Anything else I could do to help with the application? We are thinking of applying for residency in Canada as well, should we lodge the application before or after she comes and visit?
Cheers,
Olivier
