I got an ITA in the latest draw and start catching cold feet about actually leaving. Not to mention the horror stories I've been reading about immigrants not able to find proper jobs in Canada and the doctor taxi men and engineer security guards. Could those who have landed please share your experiences as it relates to life and work in Can as immigrants. Appreciate your insights

Hello my Jamaican people, I spent hours upon hours reading this forum and it's a joy to see everybody helping. I got an ITA in the latest draw and start catching cold feet about actually leaving. Not to mention the horror stories I've been reading about immigrants not able to find proper jobs and the educated taxi men and security guards. I figure who best to ask than people from my own country who have gone before. Can you please share your experiences as it relates to life and work in Can as immigrants. Appreciate your insights

I am not Jamaican, I am from India. However, I've spent two + years in Canada, lived there, made friends, had a fantastic time. Was also able to find a job. If you do the work you have to do, it's fun. Those stories that you read, they are experiences that are not yours. In some cases, it was people saying "I had a x salary job in my home country and I have x - 20k here and have to begin from scratch?" Plus, if one were to go with this mindset about Canada, it might become a self-feeding negative loopback where you just look for information that conforms to this view. I was making the mistake of reading others opinions in 2013 when I decided to go. I finally thought no, these people are NOT me. If I gave any credence to those opinions, I'd have missed out on the best few years of my life thus far.

I was living in Canada for around 4.5 years, it is true that many Dr drive taxi there and software engineers as Security. I personally met several people. Also, I have seen people gone into deep stress because they are unable to find a job. However on the other side, there are so many people living a happy life there. It is all about your confidence on yourself.

It depends on how perceive things. If u r going to a new country it is obvious that things would be new and you wud have to put up a new fight against all odds. If u have made ur mind to immigrate then u should also make ur mind to b positive and look things from a positive perspective rather than read stories about some demotivated and give up people.
In any place and any country u dont get things done unless u pursue it genuinely.
Have a positive mindset and utilize the opportunity. Networking is the key from day one and ul find success sooner or later
