I have been requested to provide RCMP fingerprints, it this standard procedure for spousal PR applications?
Can anyone else that has been requested fingerprints explain the context and likely outcome from this?
Also, because I'm not in Canada I obviously could not supply RCMP fingerprints and had to obtain them from my local police station in Wales instead? Can anyone envisage any problems with this? They were taken with the ink and roll method rather than electronically.
Thanks

While it's not all that common, it does happen. Normally CIC gets information directly from the RCMP.

The RCMP would already have your fingerprints from your incident in 2010, right?

Yes they do, but when I contacted them I was told that they could not release them to me as they were associated with my DUI. I passed this information on when I supplied the prints taken from the local police in Wales.

I'm basically trying to ascertain whether them asking me for my prints at this stage is positive step in them preparing all necessary documents for my return, or whether my case could still be rejected after this? They already have copies of my Canadian and British criminal record checks, which are totally clear except the DUI, so I was hoping the prints were a formality rather than instigating a further record check (which would show clear except for the already disclosed DUI)?
I'm confused as to how a case of my type passes through the system, and what each extra document request signifies?
If they were going to reject me outright, it doesn't make sense to me that they've requested an additional medical, RPRF, updated schedule A, new police certificate and fingerprints?
Do you know of anyone that has got this far through the process only to be rejected?

Well...that certainly seems like a logical possibility.

I'll admit that I have no idea what this really means, but until you have a CoPR in-hand...anything's possible.

What i do know is that the criminal check is the last thing they do on the application. So we go through all of this and bang . You would think they would do that first but maybe because we both know this could be a downfall we think it don't make sense.
