hi, i hope someone will answer my question.
i am sponsoring my wife who lives in South Africa, and i have been in formed that i am eligible to sponsor but our file is been transferred to Nairobi. i dont understand why its been transferred to nairobi and not to pretoria?

Re: waiting is a drug!

Where was your wife born? This may affect the file destination. Also, regional offices are sometimes used to reduce the backlog of the most overwhelmed ones. Generally, it works in your favour.

Good luck.

thanks allot mapleson for the reply.
my wife was born in Somalia, but she now lives in South Africa.
the reason why i get frustrated is that, one of my friend's file who is currently in process and his lives in South Africa has been transferred to South Africa. so, it freaked me out.
i hope things goes well....

somalians are processed in nairobi, and the kenya office despite what the processing times say, usually processes a straight forward case with 6-12 months. I had a very quick processing through nairobi(am from zambia, and my file was initially sent to pretoria because thats what i selected on application, but after two months it was sent to nairobi, and they gave me my residency within 4 months) Usually cIc prefers to process using country of citizenships office.

thanks chipolopolo for your reply.

indeed it was a quick process for you. so, you think my case will hopefully be quick in nairobi?
i pray everyday for better!

i cant say how long it will be, but just stay positive. Every case is different, but generally nairobi has been processing fairly well, and very rarely asks for interviews so long s you sent in a well prepared app with sufficient evidence, and supporting documents etc. Just be patient, and in the mean time feel free to ask here on the forum if you need to inquire about anything. Alot of people share their experiences and give advice. The wait is painful, but worth every second once you are united with your spouse/family. Hang in there, and all the best

thanks chipolopolo.

assuming you were in a spouse sponsorship, where you sponsored from Zambia through nairobi? i thought Zambia goes under Pretoria VO.

yes my wife sponsored me. Zambia now goes through nairobi. I wasnt aware at the time and selected pretoria. I actually applied while i was living in the usa. My application was almost sent to buffalo new york, but then redirected to south africa where it was rejected and again redirected to nairobi. All in all, am grateful nothing was lost during all that moving around, and that it didnt affect my processing time

hi, when can i expect a reply or something from nairobi VO? my spouse's file has been transferred to nairobi VO on June 05, 2015.

every case is unique. I didnt hear anything for 3 months, and then it was all done within a month after they asked for passport. It all depends on completeness of application, and supporting evidence etc, but generally you should be processed within 6-12 from date they received it in missisauga
