Approved, waiting for letter. Leaving for vacation

Hi guys,
I applied for an extension of my student visa and it's been approved (applied online from within Canada). Problem is that I am leaving Canada for Christmas break on the 15th. I have yet to received the letter from CIC.
My plan is to leave and have my friend Fedex the letter to me when I'm back home to have it stamped when I enter back into Canada again in Jan.

Now that I am reading, people seem to be sending their passport to CIC within Canada to have it stamped.

Am i screwed?

Not screwed but confused. You send PP only when you apply for TRV (to enter Canada), not study permit extension (inside Canada).

So my original plan of having my friend Fedex the documents to me still stands?
