Asking for a friend. She is already inside Canada with a restricted open work permit under the Home Support Worker Pilot. She just got here a month ago. However, her original employer needs to let her go due to financial reasons.

My friend found an employer willing to sponsor LMIA but the work is for childcare.

Can she switch from a Home Support restricted open work permit to a childcare LMIA-based work permit?

Changing employer does not require informing IRCC, after approval.

She would have to reapply and qualify for the other pilot.

The HSWP application is PR-based, so it would be a good idea to find an employer who needs a Home Support Worker. It will not require an LMIA.
