I am collecting documents to sponsor my wife and bring her to Canada. We got married in India and I was able to get the marriage certificate from my state. However the marriage certificate only mention the names before marriage. It does not say anything about my wife adopting a new name. In my state/culture the wife adopts my given name as her last name.
so before marriage
my name: [my given name] [my father's first name]
wife's name: [her given name] [maiden/her father's first name]
after marriage:
wife's name: [given name] [my given name]
We have included my name (under spouse name) and also changed the last name on her passport. So now do I need to submit the 'one and same person' affidavit or a 'name change after marriage' affidavit. They both seem applicable in my case.
