Applying US Visas from Canada

Hi everyone,

I have a query. If I am pursuing a Master's course from a Canadian University (i.e. on a Canadian Study Permit) and want to visit US for visiting my relatives and/or friends during my vacations. Do I need to return to my home country i.e. India to apply for US visa OR there is a provision to apply for US visa from Canada itself?

Sorry, I am getting different answers from different sources, hence wanted to clarify about this over here. Request to put some light.

I have heard that many US visas get rejected when it is applied from Canada compared to when it is applied from one's home country as purpose changes and US authorities think that a student may become non-traceable if allowed in (basically home country ties become weaker).

its not true ...my brother got 10 year US visa ...he's in canada right now on work permit

You can apply for US visa while sitting in Canada. Just make sure to show ur educational commitment in Canada when u apply.
