Hi there,

I've sponsored my parents in 2010 and their application is back in their home country Sri Lanka, they have done medical a year ago but the processing is still on going and I've some questions and hope someone can answer or provide some guidance.
1. Can I apply for visitor visa for them while their processing is on going?
2. What would happen if their application is in the final stage like office call for them for interview or something, and they are in Canada, do they have to go back to Sri Lanka or can their application be completed in Canada?
3. Applying for visitor visa, will that affect their sponsorship processing or in making a decision?

Basically my idea is to have them here sooner and complete the processing in Canada, I can't let them go back if they are here due to their age and I don't want them to travel multiple times.

Hope someone can provide some insights.

Thanks,
Ehdi

Hi

1. Yes, you can apply for visitor visas for them.

2. If an interview is required, they will need to return to Sri Lanka for it.

3. No, it will not have any effect on their PR app.

Thanks a lot canuck_in_uk.

That's what I also thought. Is there a way to do the interview procedure if that happens while they are in Canada?
Do I've a shot in that based on their age? Is there a way to convince the immigration office to complete the final stage processing within Canada?
If it's not possible then there's no point in applying for visitor visa, only think I can hope is that my parents are still alive before office makes final decision.
Parental sponsorship processing time for Sri Lanka is 48 months in Canada and 72 months in Sri Lanka which is unacceptably too long.

Sorry, just my frustration; thanks again for the quick reply.

Thanks,
