Hello,

I am not sure if this is the right section, I got my PR and did my landing in April. I have always wanted to go to the US and wondering if I can apply for the US visit visa with just my confirmation paper since I havent got the PR card yet.

and can I return to Canada using the COPR

any help is appreciated

yes, you can apply for US visa with your landing paper only. However, you must have your PR card if you want to return to Canada.

You can apply visa to US. But being a PR in Canada does not ensure your visa to the US. You have to demonstrate that you have a strong ties to your home country or Canada (or other countries).

A pr card is required for travel by commercial carrier(plane, boat, bus, train) and applying for a US visa without it is a risk, unless you plan to show that you are travelling by land in your own car?

I think I will wait till i get my card to apply for the visa then, I hope I wont have a problem to show that I have ties since I have lived in Canada for the past 6 years now

If you are employed and have a letter from your employer, adequate funds for your trip, etc, you should be fine. Some permanent residents are lucky to get a 5 year multiple entry US visa.

I am a student, do you think I can apply for without the PR card while being a student or should I apply after I get my PR card?

Thank you

Unless you really have to go, it doesn't hurt to wait for the pr card. To show ties as a student, you would need proof current enrollment, transcripts, fee receipt, adequate funds, etc.
