Hello there!

I am currently in Canada as a tourist and will be applying for my Inland PR within a months time from being sponsored by my Canadian girlfriend.

My question is, do you think starting a business as a Partnership would make my application suspicious? My girlfriend would be doing all the work and I wouldn't be doing anything but its just preparing for the future.

We have a business in Australia that we have clients for and we would like to bring it here.

Again, I wouldn't be doing any work, but would creating a partnership make me suspicious is my primary question.

Or should we just do a sole proprietorship under her name?

Thoughts?

How do you define "preparing for the future"?

I think I might hold off until you have an approved OWP so there's no chance of anything you're doing being seen as working illegally.

Preparing for the future, as in once I get approved for OWP it would be good to then join my partner in physically working for the business. Until then it would just be her and I would just be listed on as a partner as I know that it is completely legal.

Just wondering if even though it is legal there would be any suspicions of working illegally haha
