Hello everyone,
I recently graduated from UWaterloo, and will be applying for PGWP soon. (I am waiting on the official transcript and letter from the University). My study permit is valid till September 2019, so until then I'm still technically considered a student and have valid student status. My question is pertaining to the new biometric rules.
Let's say I submit a PGWP application online from within Canada, and I get a biometric request letter. It mentions on the website that "If you’re in Canada and you apply for an initial study or work permit, and you received a biometrics instruction letter from us, you may need to leave Canada to give biometrics". Would this apply to me then? Considering I am still a student when I apply for a PGWP? Or do I have to leave the country. Its quite expensive to go back to my home country, just to give the biometrics :/
Further more, it also mentions on the website that, "Do NOT travel to the United States (U.S.) to give your biometrics. You must already be legally in the U.S. or an overseas territory of the U.S. to go to an Application Support Center". I have a valid US visitor visa. So does that mean once I receive the biometrics request letter, I can travel to the US, give my biometrics and come back to Canada? Or do I have to go the US first, and apply for the PGWP, so that I'm "technically" in the US already when I get the biometric request letter.
Trying to gauge which is the most suitable option as I don't really consider it taking an expensive short flight out of Canada for a couple of days just to give my biometrics. The US option is considerably cheaper, but I want to know whether thats acceptable.
Thanks everyone!
