Applying for multiple PR classes

Hi everyone,

My name is Alon, and I've applied for PR under the FSW class last fall (October 2015) after completing an express entry profile and receiving an ITA. While the official processing time is 6 months, my application is still under review.

Since then, I've lived in Canada under a work permit (obtained through my wife's study permit) and have been working legally in two different class B NOC jobs.

I believe I have enough hours to apply for the CEC PR but I'm not sure if I can apply under two separate classes at the same time. Does anybody know whether or not that is possible, and how to go about it?

Enough hours? Since then (October 2015) means you have been working for about one year - This means you need to have worked full time (or the equivalent) for one year - you either worked 30 or more hours per week or you didn't (doesn't matter if it's at one or two jobs). If you did not, then you are not yet eligible, no matter how many total hours you worked.

There is no clear guidance from IRCC on this. In the past, you could have simultaneous applications to different programs. IRCC appears to want to discourage this with the rationale of fast processing times, but the reality is different, as you know.

I would say that there is nothing stopping you from trying it. The system has changed a little since you first applied, in that now, if you are eligible for both FSW and CEC, you will by default get the ITA for CEC.

How would you do it? The same way you did it the first time.

Thanks for the reply, the reason I'm not a hundred percent sure about the hours is because I work on a seasonal basis and on a shift basis. The combination of which means I'm not sure whether my trips back home during the period count as vacation days or as "unemployment". During the time I was employed was most certainly full time and far above that (45+ hours a week). Either way, I am still here and still working so at the very worst I will be eligible within a few weeks.

I will hold on for a few weeks, with the hope that something does change with my FSW application, and to ensure and then apply through the express entry system.

Good luck, hopefully you will hear something soon. Have you applied for your GCMS notes for your existing application? It doesn't always give you useful information, but sometimes it does...

RE the seasonal/shift work - if you haven't done so already, you should make a week-by-week spreadsheet of your hours. If you aren't sure of your hours, you can't expect to convince a VO...

Hi, I haven't applied yet for any notes GCMS, I actually don't know what those are : , how do I do that?

As for my hours, I have my pay stubs that have details of my hours and I also spoke to both my employers and they are able to supply any further details I might need.

There are many threads on this forum about the GCMS notes, suggest you do some reading before applying!
