Hey all!

I currently have Canadian PR (through the Experience Class), but have been working in England and will not meet my requirements to renew. Having spoken to a lawyer, the best advice was to reapply (rather than re-enter later and hope to go under the radar!) and she said there would be no problem re-applying even after renouncing. I've also seen on the forum people saying that it will not hurt your chances of approval if you've previously renounced.

My main question is for anyone in the same situation who has successfully reapplied. Do you have any tips? I'll be preparing a Letter of Explanation and a Humanitarian Submission (as recommended by the lawyer), but wondering if there was any advice on additional proof, or even things to mention as part of either of those documents (e.g. reasoning etc).

Thanks in advance :)

On this forum, there must be very few people who have renounced their permanent residency and have acquired it again, so there is very little chance if someone comes forward and shares their personal experience.

In my personal opinion, your lawyer is correct and If you are eligible for FSW/FST and can secure an ITA in Express entry, you will not have a problem to get a PR again after renouncing it. As long as giving tips, when it comes to CIC, be truthful, they are very understanding. I have known a couple who comes to Canada and stays there for little over 2 years in every 5 years duration of their PR card so that they can renew theirs. Visa officers don't give them a hard time. Back in the days when there was no express entry, people who couldn't get a PR, had found ways to stay and work longer than 4 years on work permit, when there was 4in4out rule.

In conclusion, if you can fulfill below criteria, you will not have any problem to get a new PR.
1. No police/criminal record.
2. Fine Medical test results
3. Eligible under FSW/FST and can secure an ITA in express entry. (I haven't mentioned CEC because it is highly unlikely you are eligible under CEC)

Hey Can-indian!

Thanks for the info, that's really helpful.

I've seen a few posts from people who've asked similar questions, so hopefully some of them have now received their second PR and can give more info too ;)
