Applying for citizenship certificate for a baby, please help!

Hello, I am a naturalized Canadian. My wife is Chinese. We had our newborn in Nov2015 in Guangzhou, China. In mid-Dec I applied in person at the CDN consulate in Guangzhou for baby's citizenship cert. I was told the processing time is about 7-9 months. My wife paid the 375RMB fee by credit card. Is there a way where I can check the status of the application online from CIC's website? Just to make sure they actually received the app and it's in process. The official receipt printout that I got from the consulate doesn't show a case number or app number or receipt number. Please help. Thx.
