Hello, I´ve been recently accepted at a college in Vancouver and I´m just waiting for my Acceptance Letter to arrive before I can apply for a study permit.

I´m a resident of Islamabad, Pakistan and haven´t traveled anywhere abroad. My family is situated in Pakistan, except my sister who moved to Vancouver last year as a citizen after her marriage to a Canadian National.

Does anyone know what are the key points I need to keep in mind when I apply for the study permit? I had no idea so many study permits had been rejected on the ground of leaving Canadian territory once your education was complete. I didn't think it would be the key point.

I´m an above average student with an IELTS score of 8.0

Can anyone also give me a ball mark figure on the kind of money my statement should show for them to consider it adequate? Also, do you think saying that during my period of stay in Canada, that I would be living with my sister could hurt me in the process or help me?

Hey,

Well let me tell you one thing if you provide your sister bank statement from canada, you just think it can be big etc.. but here in islamabad canadian embassy they see two things from the application

one strong ties in ur home country means, ur all family in pakistan and ur going there for study.

I must tell you one thing don't let them know that ur sister is there then they will ask her immigration papers documents, ur evidence with her like photos, etc...

Ur family can help in one case if you have strong ties in canada means ur whole family is living there in canada ur just here in pakistan so bank statement can work.

What i can suggest you, if u like to go there hence you should ask to ur sister to pay ur school fees 1-2 semester advance get bank statement from ur father/brother or uncle etc..

and apply with it and make sure of onething also the course you have choose it is not available in pakistan.

good luck

if you let them know you have family there and sister and ur living with sister they can't give you visa they think ur sister just want you there and get immigration they have bighead.

Hence just prove ur ties from pakistan never let them know you have any one in canada who will support u or what

If you want ur sister help just let her know to pay ur fees by credit card but never let know embassy she is there....

Rest what looks u good you should try, my one friend reject in the similar case, ur purpose is study there not to live with ur sister

You have to show that you can pay your tuition and survive during your studies. Ballpark figure is you should need about 20,000 a year to survive. If you are living with your sister, you might get away with less but having a sister in Canada can also work against you since they might think you are planning on staying for good. You have to show ties with your family in Pakistan and good idea to show that you will have job opportunites at home once your studies are done. Print out some job ads etc.

and write a good cover letter along with ur study permit application

1) the course in which u got admission how it can help you plus not available in pakistan, how it can help after u come back to pakistan

2)about ur family, who is supporting you, make sure ur father/mother/brother....

3)must have enough money.

4)you can let her know officer in advance u will return back after studies ur whole family is living here u cant live without ur family..

Hey keep following stuff in ur mind once your applying for study permit, write a good cover letter along with your study permit application.

Why do you wish to study in Canada in the program for which you have
been accepted? What is your overall educational goal? Why are you not
pursuing a similar program in your country of residence/citizenship?
What research have you done into studies in your country of
residence/citizenship? How will this program enhance your employment
opportunities in your country of residence/citizenship? What ties do
you have to your country of residence/citizenship? If it has been more
than 2 years since you have left full time education, please provide
your C.V. (resumé). In the case of a minor applicant, what are your
reasons for studying in Canada? What is your parents/guardian's
immigration status in their current country of residence?

rest leave upto God, let them know about u had been accepted all round world as well:) it will be plus point
