Hi all
I applied for Permanent Residency in Canada in June 2010. It is taking much time to access applications as I have not heard anything from them till now. Can I apply for a study permit so that till the time, I get some education and work experience in Canada?

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated

Thanks

Sure - you can apply. However you'll have to prove that you have strong ties to your home country and plan to return once your studies have been completed. This may be difficult to do given you have a PR application in progress. But no reason you can't try.

I am in the same boat. I had applied for my pr under the cec program in august and got my medical last week and I went through a lawyer. My current work permit expires in feb and my pr won't get processed till July. My lawyer suggested me to go back to school thus applying for a study permit, it's called dual intent the lawyer said the pr and the study permit will be treated as a separate case.
