Apply for PR when new work permit is under renewal

Hi,

I am currently working in Canada in Closed Work Permit and my employer(same employer) submitted the extension of my work permit.
I have not received my renewed work permit yet and my existing work permit expired on end of March. I would like to apply for PR - Express Entry and I have the job offer from my existing employer.

I would like to know whether I can apply for PR with the job offer from my existing employer or should I need to wait for the new work permit to arrive? Thanks.
