Hi,

First of all sorry for posting a new thread for this..

Question: I have got my COPR last week and planning to land in Canada before it expires, apply for PR then return to UK(where I am currently working) in a weeks time, then plan is to get my PR card through post via my friends. Then look out for Job in Canada meanwhile and once I settle things here in UK then return to canada (may be after an year).

This seems like a allowed scenario after going through threads in this forum but just spoke to one of the persons who went to Canada through Express Entry told me that rule has changed and cannot leave the country with out getting a PR. Hence the reason to start a new thread.

Do anyone aware of this change in rule and is this the case that we cannot leave Canada with out PR? This worries me because in this case I have got only 4 months time to quit my current job and then go to canada with out a job offer.

I don't know what this person smokes (although I would love to try it out) but you are free to do a soft landing and settle in Canada later on.

There is no such rule. If there were, it would be all over this forum.

Canada can't bar you from leaving the country once you become a PR. If they tried, you'd hear about it from more than one random person. It would be all over the news.

Thanks for your response. @mgnlky @canuck_in_uk @DelPiero07

Speaking about this further to consultancy guys they informed me about a situation where one of their clients travelled to Canada recently with PR visa, he applied for PR card on his friends address and came back to India with out taking it. The Canadian Govt requested him to provide some extra documentation to issue the PR card but he failed to share them as he was not in Canada at that point of time. So he is still in process of getting PR card from Canada.

So the question I have got is.. what additional document they could ask for after landing in Canada and also would that be a problem to submit any additional documentation if you are not in Canada and stops getting PR card or is that a situation that we should avoid going through?

Aware of anything like this?

Wondering anyone who has much awareness on the landing process can clarify this for me please?

- What additional documentation they could ask for after finishing landing process and exit Canada. Few of the threads listed in forum spoke about re-submitting photographs. I was asked to submit two photographs along with passport for stamping. I have got my passport back and they returned one photograph with it.
