Hi,

I'm on student visa and my studies end in April 2019.I shall be returning to India in May and shall be engaging.Major functions shall be the next year.
I'm thinking of doing a court marriage and then applying for express entry PR.I would be having sufficient points due to Masters from University and Spouse points.

Please advise if court marriages are valid for PR application or need to get into a big fat indian wedding before application.

IRCC has to believe your marriage is genuine. Since Indian weddings are typically large affairs rather than court marriages, you would want to have lots of other proof that your marriage is real (if you don't have a big wedding).

Court marriage is sufficient as long as you have your wedding certificate

legally speaking, the 'Indian marriage' is just a large party and as such holds no value abroad. Only the actual marriage certificate holds a legal value (abroad).

For express entry focus is more on verifying your education, experience and language skills etc.
As long as the marriage certificate is issued by the respective issuing authority u r ok

Ircc doesn't care if you had a large indian wedding or not. You could have a court marriage, a small home ceremony or anything... it's irrelevant. The marriage certificate is whats important.
