apply BwOP while waiting for file no.

My work permit will end this April 1, 2015. I am just wondering if i still have enough time to wait for my filing no. which i filed last October 23, 2014.

Or do i need now to apply for another work permit while waiting for my file no.

Hi,
you can wait until the end of March. The thing is, you have to apply for the BOWP before your current WP expires. So you still have enough time. In case you will not get AOR by the end of March you can apply by paper based application due to the longer processing time during which your AOR will hopefully be issued.
 
You should hopefully have AOR before expiration of your WP.. but even if you do not get an AOR you can apply for paper based BOWP a day or two before the expiration of your WP... it has worked for many people including myself.

You will get the BOWP only till your passport validity. You've better to renew your passport first.
 
I just want to seek for clarification. I am not really aware of what you called "paper based application" is there a format or official form on that? Second is there anyway which i can follow up the status of my CEC application which I filed last October 23, 2014? Third while am waiting for my filing no. do you think I am I really still safe on my work status here in Canada?

Thanks your response will really help me to forecast my next step here in Canada.

Hi,
1 there are two options to apply for the BOWP. You can apply either by paper based application which means you will fill up forms and send in by mail to CIC and another option is online application. The processing times are different. Online applications are processed much faster, that's why is better for the applicants without AOR to apply on paper to 'buy' some time.
2 You can follow up your application on ECAS as soon as you get your AOR and the file number in it: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/my_application/status.asp
3 You can work in Canada til the end of your valid WP. If you apply for the BOWP before your current WP expires you'll be on 'implied status' (allowed to work) even after your WP expires until decision on your BOWP is done.
