Hi guys,

I have a quick question that I hope you can help me with:
Next month I am coming from Germany to Canada for a two years Masters program. I applied for a visa with my current passport, which expires in August 2016, and my visa also got approved already. Since I expect to be there until August 2016, I have now requested my German passport to be renewed before heading off.

Does anybody know, will I be able to use my new passport with my "old" approved visa when I'll enter Canada? Or do I need to let somebody know beforehand of my new passport serial number, or do I have to apply for a new visa altogether?

I'd really appreciate any help!!

Kind Regards
Lulukaka

u carry both ur passports visa counterfoil(sticker) on old passport can be used with new passport and it is not transferable. on a side note why does a German national need canadian visa aren't u visa exempt..i am surprised?

Thanks for the quick reply!

If I got you right, then it'd be fine as long as I bring my old passport along with me (as well as my new one of course)?

Hm, as far as I understood it I don't need a visa if I come for a visit, but need a study permit in order to study for, as in my case, two years... Am a little confused now, though... ??

well u need a study permit but not a visa but ur asking about visa arent u? i may be wrong.

Sorry, I think my wording was a little off: I was actually talking about a study permit all along...

To clarify my question:
So far, all I have is a letter from the CIC that my study permit was approved, and that I should bring the letter with me when entering Canada. During the application process, I had to specify my passport serial number and its expiry date. Since it expires around the time I'll expect to leave Canada, I now renewed my passport, i.e. it has now a different serial number and a different expiry date...

Sorry again for the confusion!
